MilitaryINSTALLATIONS temporary housing (checked 27 Aug 2026): Lodging Office, 5941 Fitzgerald Blvd, Building 556, Nellis AFB, NV 89191. COMM 702-652-2711. FAX 702-652-9172. DSN 312-682-2711. Reception desk is open 24/7. Arrangements: call 702-652-2711 or DSN 312-682-2711. Contact lodging if the arrival date changes; keep the confirmation number. MOS: if Nellis is your first duty station after a technical school of less than 20 weeks, you may not be authorized reimbursement for temporary lodging — check Finance and ask lodging about TLE.

Same MOS TLF page, Pets: Nellis has 20 rooms that accept pets (dogs and cats only). 2-pet limit. Exceptions by the Lodging Manager / Assistant Manager. Research installation policy on unauthorized pets. If no pet rooms are open, MOS says you will be asked to board at a local kennel; a list is at the front desk. If there is no availability of pet units, members will not be given a certificate of non-availability. Pets in non-pet-friendly units: damage or cleaning fee and asked to vacate; CNA will not be issued; hotel costs at the guest’s expense.

MOS: Nellis has large-scale exercises throughout the year that utilize most or all of the lodging rooms except the Temporary Lodging Facilities. If the newcomer is married, they are authorized a 30-day stay in Nellis TLFs with confirmed reservations. First-come, first-served. Call as soon as you know the arrival date. If you cannot get a confirmed TLF reservation before arrival, MOS says members can reside in lodging other than TLF on a space-available basis until vacancies open. To stay at a local hotel you must first stop by the Lodging Office for a Certificate of TLE, or the hotel costs could be at the guest’s expense. Monthly. We did not call the desk today.

99 FSS Nellis Lodging & Inns (live page, checked 27 Aug 2026): 24/7. Check-in 3:00 PM / check-out 11:00 AM. Address 5941 Fitzgerald Blvd, Bldg. 556. Phone 702-652-2711. Welcomes Active Duty, retirees, NAF or DoD civilian employees, and sponsored guests. nellis.af.mil Newcomer Info (search index; 403 from this datacenter 27 Aug 2026): Lodging Office 702-652-2711, 5941 Fitzgerald Blvd. “The Nellis Inn is a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week reception center.” Search index of that official page also said the lodging complex consists of 1,027 transient rooms and a 60-unit temporary lodging facility for incoming families, and to have the sponsor make a reservation four weeks prior if arriving with family. MOS TLF does not publish those room counts on the page we retrieved. Cited, not flattened. Still linked. We will not invent a downtown hotel list.

Privatized housing / Hunt — no wait time invented

MOS housing (checked 27 Aug 2026): in-process at MHO for on/off-base housing. MOS: do not sign a lease without inspecting the property; ensure a military clause. MHO processes the application for Nellis Family Housing (Hunt). On Nellis, family housing is operated by Hunt Communities. MOS benefits living on Nellis: $0 security deposit; not all utilities are included. The service member has an allowance for electric/gas calculated on the average use of all residents in the comparable home category and pays out of pocket for overages. Utilities that are fully covered (MOS): water / sewer / trash and recycle. Cable / internet / telephone: fully the member’s responsibility. 24-hour emergency maintenance. Gated community / amenities. We quote MOS. We do not invent a waitlist.

Climate and heat Seasonal / annual

Nellis is NWS WFO VEF (Las Vegas). Extreme heat is climate, not a blog list. We quote NWS, not a travel site. nellis.af.mil Newcomer Info 403’d from this datacenter on 27 Aug 2026; we will not copy undated climate numbers from a blocked sheet. NWS Las Vegas, Climate of Las Vegas (official climate station at Harry Reid International Airport):

Las Vegas is commonly noted for its abundant sunshine throughout the year and hot summer temperatures which reach into the triple digits. The coldest of winter nights will see temperatures drop into the 20s, with readings in the teens or lower experienced only in the most severe cold outbreaks. … In the warm season months, typically in July and August, a push of moisture associated with the monsoon moves into the Mojave Desert bringing higher than average humidity and triggering scattered thunderstorms. … the heavy rain they unleash that triggers flash flooding. … By September, the monsoon typically wanes and the first break from the intense heat of summer is experienced.

The same NWS page notes gusty winds (most common in spring and fall), blowing dust and sand, and that Las Vegas is the driest major metropolitan area in the continental United States. For what it is doing today, use NWS Las Vegas, not this paragraph:

We will not rank restaurants without a monthly check we are not running. No “top 10 cheap eats.” No casino buffet as a budget tip. Menu prices rot. A young airman’s budget is real; the honest line is the commissary plus an official city directory, not a fake Yelp five.
